Machame Route is one of the most beautiful routes, since the path circles around the mountain and offers great views. You pass a variety of landscapes, from rainforest to the famous Shira Plateau. This so called WHISKEY ROUTE has a gradual ascent and gives your body time to acclimatize. It has a high summit success rate, especially the 7-days route that adds an extra rest day at Karanga Camp, so you be well rested before summiting. The Machame Route is easy accessible and shorter than most routes and therefore less expensive. The main draw-back of Machame is that there can be lots of people on this trail during the high season

At midnight we start the most challenging part of the hike. It begins with a rocky part and zigzag to the crater rim at Stella Point (18,600 ft). From Stella Point it is just another hour to Kilimanjaro summit, the Uhuru Peak. If you reach the summit on time, you can see the most beautiful sunrise you have ever seen. Enjoy the overwhelming sense of achievement. It is time for a short celebration and to take awesome pictures. From the summit, we make our descent to Mweka Camp, stopping at Barafu for lunch. This is a tough climbing day (8-14 hours) from Barafu Camp to the summit and back to Barafu Camp. The last challenge is another 2-4 hours downhill from Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp. Later in the evening, we enjoy our last dinner on the mountain and a well-earned sleep
