You dream of visiting the Serengeti to witness the Great Wildebeest Migration? Immerse yourself in a natural world that goes beyond anything you might have seen in wildlife documentaries. Galloping hooves, clouds of dust, sounds of grunting fills the air and predators lie in wait. Watching an endless stream of mammals thundering the plains of the Serengeti, crossing rivers, is absolutely mesmerising. This wildebeest migration safari takes you to the right area in the Serengeti, at the right time.

Day 1: Arrival Kilimanjaro Airport

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport, your driver will meet you at the exit of the arrivals area, to transfer you to the Maasailand Safari Lodge in Arusha. This lodge has a beautiful view of Mount Meru. Settle into your accommodation, relax and enjoy dinner, before your safari starts in the morning.

Day 2: Arusha – Lake Manyara

This morning we drive in 1.5 hours from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park where your safari starts. The massive soda lake crowded with flamingos, the tree-climbing lions and the breathtaking scenery is what made Lake Manyara National Park famous. This smaller wildlife reserve is incredibly diverse. You can also spot hundreds of olive baboons, elephants, hippos and if you are lucky Manyara’s tree climbing lions. It is also a perfect place to see the spectacular 400 meter high Rift Valley Escarpment. After your game drive we head to Lake Manyara Jambo campsite for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park

En route towards the Serengeti we drive through Olduvai Gorge, also known as the ‘cradle of mankind’. At this site the earliest human skull in the world was discovered and footsteps dating back three million years. Therefore this place is prehistoric and significant in understanding the early human evolution. Ulduvai Gorge is a steep valley of about 50 km (32 mi) long, situated in the Great Rift Valley, in the eastern part of the Serengeti. Enjoy a game drive on the way to the central area of the Serengeti, also called Seronera. Dinner and overnight at the Seronera Public Campsite.

Day 4: Serengeti National Park

Rise up early in the morning for a full day game viewing in the central Seronera area. Due this unique ecosystem, Seronera supports a much greater diversity of wildlife than anywhere else in the Serengeti. The large amount of prey also draws the highest population of predators. Hence it is one of the best places in Africa to spot large predators like lions, leopards, cheetahs and hyenas. You can also see elephants, zebras, elephants, giraffes, wildebeest and many more on any given day. The best time to see the Great Wildebeest Migration in Seronera is around April and May. At this time the Seronera is really crowded and you can see huge columns of hundreds of thousands wildebeest, zebras and gazelles. It’s truly an impressive sight to witness millions of mammals thunder across the plains in search of fresh grass and water. Dinner and overnight at Seronera Public campsite.

Day 5: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater

After breakfast we drive toward the beautiful Ngorongoro crater. If you stand on the rim and look below, the majesty of nature lays out before you. The burst of colours is mind-blowing: a large blue lake with pink flamingos, yellow acacias, dense green jungle, fluffy white clouds in a sky that changes from blue, to pink, to orange. This spectacular arena is home to the Big Five and the densest population predators found anywhere in Africa. Leopards, lions, hyenas and jackals can be found on the crater floor as well as elephants, buffaloes, wildebeest, zebras, ostriches and rhinos. Dinner and overnight at Ngorongoro Sopa lodge. It is set high on the crater rim with quick access down to the crater floor.

Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After breakfast we drive back to Arusha for lunch and some last minute shopping en route. After lunch we bring you to Kilimanjaro Airport for you flight home. This is where your safari adventure has come to an end.
